“Hazel! What did you do?” Shine said staring in surprise at old woman. Hazel lived across the street and always did her grocery shopping on Wednesday. He would often go help her carry the heavy bags from her car to her kitchen.

“Do you like it?” she said smiling happily up at him and preening her hair. “My granddaughter did it for me yesterday.”

Shine closed his mouth, which had been hanging open and lied convincingly. “It’s lovely.”

“You’re such a sweetie.” She said patting him on the cheek

He managed not to laugh until he got back inside his own home. He couldn’t help it; the woman’s hair that had been as white as his yesterday was now as orange as any carrot.
