Fic: Andrei Story

I am posting my fanfic for Natura Morta here. I sent a copy to Abri at http://www.sublunaire.net/ a long time ago but never heard anything back from her about it. Maybe she did not get it, I don't know. Sinse no one seem to be reading this journal anyway I thought I would try to get all my stuff in one place or at listed in one place.

So here goes, the first of two storis

FanFic for Natura Morta, by Abrie

Vanka watched the young man with unruly red hair, wearing faded jeans and black tank tee shirt that showed off a tattoo of a rose on his shoulder. The young man, a boy really, carried himself proudly, but with a twinkle of mischief in his red eyes. The head master of the school had asked him to take the boy off his hands. His name was Andrei and he was a trouble maker. When Andrei and his best friend Julien had been together they had terrorized the school, even intimidated the teachers. Julien had been taken away last year, given to someone who, it was thought, could control him. Now they wanted him to do the same for this boy. The boy needed to learn his place….

Andrei could feel someone watching him as he deliberately teased and irritated his fellow students. He looked around and saw a stranger standing with the head master at the far end of the common room. The guy was wearing black jeans, a dark shirt and the prerequisite black duster, and was fidgeting with a white wooden walking stick. He looked to in his early twenties (but that didn’t mean anything), shaggy black hair to his shoulders contrasted with his pale white skin. There was a scar running from his eye and across his cheek, an unusual feature on one of the masters, it gave him a dark menacing look. Their eyes met, it felt like the guy was looking into his soul and liking what he saw.. Andrie shook it off the odd feeling and went back to what he had been doing.

Vanka’s smile made the headmaster uncomfortable. He would take this boy, he liked what he had seen. He didn’t want some meek mouse following him around; it would take a strong person to get along with him.

Andrei been told to report to the headmaster’s office. The headmaster was waiting for him with his usual sour expression on his face, and the strange who had been watching him earlier. What the headmasters had to say was short and to the point, “Andrei, this is Vanka. He is your master now. Go pack your bags.”

Half an hour latter he was leaving with Vanka. He was still num by the swiftness of it all. It hadn’t take him long, to pack, he didn’t have much and it all fit in one back pack, except for the violin. There had been no one he wanted to say good-by to.

Vanka watched him as he came down the stairs, his eyes slid over the violin case Andrei carried but he didn’t say anything about it as he lead the way to a shiny black Jag. “Get in.” Vanka said motioned him to the passenger seat

They were headed down the back country road when Vanka broke the uncomfortable silence, “So, tell me about your self?”

“I hate that question.” Andrei signed.

‘So do I.” Vanka grinned. The points of his canine teeth showing just a little, “so give me the short version.”

“There’s not much to tell really. I was in fosterage until I was old enough for training. I got moved from one school to another for different reasons. When I got to this one, I wasn’t good at anything and the bigger kids were picking on me. Julein came a few months later and we became good friends. He kept the other kids from picking on me and he helped me learn to fight till they left me alone.” Andrie turned his head to look out the window at the black night. “Julein was taken away last year.” He said quietly. The loss of Julein still left a big empty place in Andrie’s heart.

Vanka decided to change the subject. He didn’t want to look at the empty places in his own heart right now. “You know what your duty to me is.” It was a statement not a question. But he waited for an answer anyway.

“Yes” Andrei said quietly, still looking out the window of the Jag. He could not look at his master yet. His Master. He had known it was going to happen someday, but did it have to so soon?

“I think you will find me easy to serve.” Vanka said, feeling the boys unease, “I’m not going to be dictating your every move. And I’m not going to beat you for making mistakes. I expect you to be able to work on your own. We should get along well as long as you stay out of trouble.” But Andrie was always getting into trouble, that didn’t help him feel any better.

Vanka drove to a small but very posh hotel not too far from the airport. They were flying out the next evening. He led Andrei to their suite and showed him to his room. “Settle yourself. Then come meet me in outer room.”

Vanka could hear the Andrei’s heart beating through the door and into the outer room as the boy worked up his courage and calm himself enough to walk out the door and face him. The servants were not drunk from while in school, their first time was reserved for their master.

When Andrei came in to the room he wasn’t nearly as cool as he appeared. Vanka could hear his heart going a mile a minuet when he motioned for Andrei to come sit on one of the barstools at the kitchenette counter. He stood behind him, his hand resting on the boy’s shoulders. “Would you like to get it over with?”

Andrei only nodded, his voice having deserted him. Vanka spoke quietly his mouth only inches away from Andrei’s ear, “I want you to be comfortable with me, without my having to mesmerize you, or force your cooperation. Do you understand?”

Andrie nodded again, he could feel Vanka gently moving the hair off his neck. Bravely he tilted his head back, inviting Vanka to take what he needed. He felt cool lip on his neck, he was rather proud of himself that he didn’t flinch when he felt Vanka’s sharp teeth pierce his skin. It didn’t hurt so much if he didn’t think about it, but he could feel the pull of his blood being drawn out of his body and his heart pumping harder in his chest. It seemed time stood still. And then it was over.

Vanka sat beside Andrei on the other bar stool, being careful not touch him again and waited for Andrei to make the next move.

“That was it?” Andrei asked surprise and relief easy to hear in his voice.

“Yes.” Vanka smiled. He brushed a finger along Andrei’s neck, pleased to see the boy didn’t flinch. “These” indicating the small punctures, “should be gone by tomorrow.”

Andrei smiled; the first smile Vanka had seen on him all night. “I feel ashamed for having been so afraid.”

“Don’t be.” Vanka smiles back at him, “Wait till I ask you to fend off of telemarketers. Then you can be afraid.” They both laughed. “We will work out the details of the rest of your duties as we go along”

Andrei stood up to quickly causing a wave of dizziness hit him. Vanka quickly caught him and helped him back to his seat. “Hay, take it slow for bit. Humm?”

Rummaging in the hotel’s mini fridge Vanka handed Andrei a bottle of orange juice, “Are you any good on that violin you brought?”

“Julien told me I was. He was to only one who would listen.”

“I’d like to hear you play.” Vanka asked, “Would you play for me?”

Andrei couldn’t help but smile as he went to get his violin, maybe everything will work out after all. “I think I’m going to like this guy.” He thought to himself.

Outside the soft music of a violin could be heard on the night air as to strangers got to know each other.

The end?

Hmmmmm... I liked this.

Thanks for giving me the link! Vanke, in the short time he's actually been featured in the comic, is one of my favorite characters in the comic.
